Physiology of ayurveda
All matter (including human body) is thought to be composed of five basic elements Panchbhutas which exhibit the properties of earth(prithvi);water(jal);fire(agni)(tejas);wind(vayus and space(akash).
These elements do not exist in isolated forms but always in combination in which one or more dominates.
In humanbody these element are present in the form of DOSHAS.
VATA PITTA AND KAPHA
Vata is made up of a combination of air and space.Pitta is a combination of fire and water. kapha is made up of earth and water.
vata regulates movements and is represented by nervous system
pitta is the principle of biotransformation and is the cause of all metabolic prosess in the body.
kapha is the principle of cohesion and functions through the body fluids.
together these doshas determine the phisiological constitution of an individual.Health is describe as a balance of all three doshas and their imbalance isdisease
